How this came about is due to Ford’s part numbering scheme. We found no evidence that Ford ever put an engine with the model number 2702E into production, however several major castings including cylinder blocks have “2702E” cast into them as shown above. “2702E 6015” casting part number found on the side of the cylinder block of a Ford model 270 3E diesel engine.
